Born in Ingolstadt, Germany in 1998, Raphael Tonn completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen from 2016 to 2019, researching on the synthesis of ultrathin film solar cells in his bachelor thesis. After his studies he took a brake to rethink his academic carreer travelling eastern europe by bike and living out of a tent for 6 months. Transitioning his focus more on artistic experimentation, he pursued a Pre-Diploma in Graphic Design & Visual Communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuernberg from 2020 to 2023. Through his increased interest in CGI and a 5 month internship at Woodblock animations studio in Berlin he decided to pursue his Diploma studies in Animation Directing at the Animation Institute of the Film Academy Baden Württemberg since 2023, with an ongoing interest in the microscopic world, experimentation and subjective perception.
